Mission & Initiative

We want to empower the youth, who represent the future leaders of our nation, through exemplary education. We aim to achieve this by fostering dialogue, providing education, and promoting greater accessibility to learning opportunities.

About Us

Ethiopian Students.org was established in November 2011 by Anteneh Demelash. Drawing from his experience as President of the Ethiopian Educational Association in Los Angeles from 2000 to 2002, he garnered valuable insights and sought to expand their impact to Ethiopian students residing in the Washington DC metropolitan area. The aim of this website is to cater to the Ethiopian student community in the DC area, with a long-term vision of extending support to students across the entire United States.

Among the initiatives of the Ethiopian Educational Association was the recognition of Ethiopians and Ethiopian-Americans who accomplished significant milestones by graduating from high schools, colleges, and universities in the Los Angeles area. Upholding this important tradition, we aspire to honor and perpetuate these achievements. Since 1999, Anteneh Demelash has been at the forefront of organizing and guiding the Ethiopian community in the United States.

Mission & Initiative

The mission of this initiative is to empower the youth, who represent the future leaders of our nation, through exemplary education. We aim to achieve this by fostering dialogue, providing education, and promoting greater accessibility to learning opportunities. Embracing the “Brain Gain” theory, which emphasizes the positive impact of retaining highly skilled individuals, we recognize the importance of adapting to dynamic labor markets and retaining talent in both the United States and Ethiopia.

Supported by local government officials, parents, students, and strategic partners, we are committed to our mission. Building upon the success of similar programs, such as the Ethiopian Educational Association in Los Angeles during Mr. Demelash’s tenure from 2000 to 2002, we aim to extend our reach to the Washington D.C metropolitan area (DMV).

In today’s digitally literate society, we recognize the power of technology to facilitate distance cooperation. By acknowledging the achievements of our young, digitally savvy generation, we believe we can effect positive change within our communities.
